I am here in Kiev for the LET Access event that starts tomorrow and the good news is the weather is roasting!!
When I landed at the airport I expected it to be fairly well organised as the European Football Championships are here soon, but that wasnt the case… I stood outside on the tarmac by the runway as the many people tried to get through the security which was a kind of free for all, no queues or airport staff to guide us, but eventually I got through and waited to meet my friend Lo from Belgium who I’m staying with this week.
We got a very old taxi from to the hotel (about an hour away) which was like riding a rollercoaster…fast, scary and didn’t know what was going to happen next! On arrival at the hotel it was pretty much brand new and we seem to have the biggest room in the hotel, a lovely big suite which is nice since we are not brave enough to venture outside the hotel unless its to the golf course!
Yesterday morning we got the minibus to the golf course, another hour drive on bumpy roads and never again will I complain about a wee pothole in the road at home! After driving past some really under developed and poor areas we arrived at the golf course…
It is the biggest clubhouse ever, I heard it costs 80,000 Euro to join and there isnt many members, as a result the practice facilities are immaculate, the golf course is fantastic and it is like nobody has played it before us, no divots, pitchmarks anything!
I tee off tomorrow at 10:20 and I am looking forward to it, the course is very challenging with very narrow fairways, long rough, lots of water and very undulating greens but I hope to be able to report back some good news
Happy Golfing
